Therapy4Kids has been providing Occupational therapy for Children for 20 years. We believe in encouraging children and families to talk and play, building a positive, trusting relationship with therapists. Learn & grow from each other’s experiences & thus assist the child in working towards increased independence.

Getting Started with Therapist

The Occupational therapist begins by assessing a child’s strengths, and abilities, followed by assessing posture and movement behaviors. While core stability is compromised, then different bodily systems interaction becomes difficult. We feel disconnected, and disorganized within our body and the environment we live in.

As an Occupational therapist armed with the understanding of biomechanics, sensory processing, neurobiology and the way all these pieces impact emotional regulation and thus organizing their posture, balance and movement at the present time during specific activities is a critical component in clinical observation.

What are Intervention Approaches?

Early Intervention Program

How early & when to start is always a question. To me, it depends upon parent awareness & education about child development. Knowledge of understanding & thus connecting with babies cues with curiosity & not with anxiety is the key, besides visiting early intervention OPDs and is the first step

The Early Intervention Program starts with understanding the baby by developing secure parent-child attachment. Its main objective for me is to make parents educate & aware first about the child’s body cues, his ways of emotional regulation, his ways of expression, just becoming observant moment by moment & responding to his physiological, and emotional needs.

EIP has different stages at different ages of child development. It requires observation & assessment at regular intervals along with family participation to cater to children’s need for successful participation in society.

Structured Inclusive Classroom Intervention

Children with neurodiversities or facing any other childhood adversities vary in their abilities to learn. Every child is unique whether typical or atypical. Hence accommodating a child in the given setup by adapting the classroom is the first step towards inclusive education.

In this type of setting, Students are seen individually or in small groups of 2-3 students along with a special teacher. OT collaborates with the teacher by sharing her observation, and sensory-motor strategies which the teacher can adapt to her teaching methodologies.
