Our Story
Moving beyond a hospital setup, Therapy4Kids was started in 2007 by Dr. Rucha Thorat as a place for the kids to move around and play freely. The kids got one on one attention as well as a chance to get to know other kids as well. Away from the hospital walls, the clinic was a place of comfort and learning.
There was no shortage of clinics that diagnosed and treated kids. However, a place where the kids could learn and play freely, a place where they would be understood beyond the labels stuck on them and the place where parents could participate with them was the need of the hour. This gap is what Dr. Rucha wished to fill.
Today, Therapy4Kids has earned the experience of handling 100+ families over the 2 decades. Dr. Rucha now joined hands with special educators, teachers and psychologists to better understand and assist the kids.

Anvay
We teamed up with neurologists and orthopaedic surgeons to work on his development. His therapy always had a goal of participating in life skills. It was never just exercising. As a child, he cried, and howled, but always cooperated with us and showed his determination.
I once asked Anvay what career he wanted to pursue. He already had his answer; a lawyer. He knew that he was a skilled speaker and that he had great convincing skills. Anvay knew his abilities and strengths very well.
Anway’s determination shone not just through his physical development but through academics as well. On 30th July Anvay achieved yet another milestone in his life, securing 87% in SSC board examinations. He is now well on his way to being the lawyer he aspired to be.
From learning to kick to playing cricket, and earning high-flying academic achievements, Anvay has proven that determination coupled with a positive attitude is all you need to achieve great things.
Samiksha
Engagement and participation played a leading role in Samiksha’s life. After completing her schooling at Sevasadan English Medium School, she sat for the Yoga examination and achieved first-class in every exam. She then partook in an Elementry and Intermediate Drawing Exam and received a C-Gade. All this was achieved despite having fine motor issues.
Having completed her junior college at SP College, Samiksha is now following a Bachelor’s in Arts in the German language from Fergusson College. Within her three years in college, she has not failed to participate in every college event which included an inter-college German Drama Competition.
Even the COVID lockdown was productive for Samiksha. She tried her hand at poetry and crafted seven poems in German. She has also secured a three-month internship at the Edunova School of Languages.
Samiksha also has a first-class in Yog Visharad Exams. She loves to swim in her free time and has mastered breaststrokes and backstrokes. Samiksha is now a skilled independent swimmer and a definite go-getter.
Upeksha
While following rigorous therapy schedules, Upeksha studied hard and stayed on top of her class. She loved singing and participated in music events in school. Upeksha also enjoyed joining in English Day competitions, occasionally managing to win prizes.
Upeksha underwent bone surgery in 2016. A mere six months later, she was back on her feet, walking independently to university. There, she was part of the winning debating team in the intra-college debating tournament. Upeksha now has a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London.
At nineteen, Upeksha traveled alone to Vietnam to teach English to young children. During her six-week experience, she stayed in a hostel, shopping and traveling with the other volunteers. This experience marked a milestone and showed how labels and diagnoses cannot prevent an independent life.
Upeksha is now working as a freelance proofreader, does script-writing for a media agency, and is also a research and content writing intern at a hospitality software solutions company. In her free time, she writes short stories and novels. Breaking the boundaries of labels, she believes that it’s less about what you can or can’t and more about what you will.
Meet Rucha Thorat
Dr. Rucha Thorat - Msc OT C/NDT
Founder of Therapy4Kids
Dr. Rucha has a Masters in Occupational therapy with over twenty years of experience in working with developmental delays, cerebral palsy, autism, attention deficit disorder, learning difficulties, and SPD. She is also a certified Neurodevelopmental therapist and trained in sensory processing intervention.
Dr. Rucha has served as a consultant pediatric occupational therapist for the past twenty years in various multispeciality hospitals developing early intervention program & services from NICU to following them up in high risk OPD.
Over the years, she has learned to develop individualized plans in cooperation with teachers and parents. Her actions are guided by her philosophy, “We are all doing the best we can with what we have. What matters is ‘how’ you do, then ‘what’ you do.”
